I am honored and humbled to be nominated by the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists (PANA) to run for the position of Director of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA). 

I am running because I think having an educator on the AANA board is important to ensure that educators' unique needs and perspectives are a component of the decision-making process. Having someone on the board who recognizes not only the importance of education but also the importance of having educational opportunities for both CRNAs and CRNA educators, is critical to fulfilling the association’s mission to serve our membership and advance our profession. Although only a small percentage of CRNAs are educators, we educate 100% of our profession’s future. You hear it all the time: “Nurse anesthesia residents (NARs) … they are our future!” 

If elected, I will bring the perspective of an experienced clinician, educator, and state leader to the AANA board. I humbly ask that you vote for me, and I hope you consider asking your colleagues to vote for me, too – Lew Bennett for AANA Director.
